    I have on my timeline a gap between 2 clips I want to insert a new clip only into that gap though leaving other 2 clips untouched or moved.

    trim the clip to the proper size and drop it into the space

    No I know that but I know there is a way say if it is a still image you can insert the clip and it will directly in the gap without moving anything I used to do this in FCP.

    BTW you said clip originally
    Just drop the still at the end of the left clip and grab the right edge of the still and drag it to the edge of the right clip
