Yes… has anyone else had this problem? It seems to have started taking place only recently.

My entire system will shut off at random when in PPro2 (the application won’t just crash – my whole system shuts off). I can’t figure out what causes it. After Effects and Photoshop and everything else works fine for hours, but I’ve come to expect a system crash when in PPro2.

My system is a Mac Pro intel core-duo 2.66ghz w/ 2 gigs of ram, but am running Windows XP SP2 via Bootcamp. Maybe this is a factor, but like I said, this hasn’t started happening until recently. Not sure what info is important for deriving a conclusion here – I am absolutely clueless as to what causes it – I could be in any mode or using and tool and it could happen. Often these are not memory-intensive projects.

One thing is for sure: if computer companies charged you each time you save a project, they would definately be rich off me now – I click save all the time now.

Any help is of great value.

I had a problem like that on my PC using Windows XP Pro.

The PC would just shut down instantly. Like I pulled the plug.

So, I restored Windows back to a known good point and the problem went away.

    Hi Mike

Including Steves thoughts, I think part of your problem might be caused by lack of optimized hardware drivers under Bootcamp and XP. PPro CS2 utilizes VGA, Audio, and Haredrives much more excessively than AE or PS or other apps.
For PPro with all hardware drivers installed correctly on a basic PC, it can and does bog down, but not shutting down the whole system. CS3 might be a good answer for you as an upgrade.
