  Help with effect – Travelling pixelation

  Hi There. I’m really new to video editing but have a project where I want to do that pixelation effect where you pixel someones face or a logo in order to hide it yet the rest of the footage looks fine. I have a situation where what I want to hide moves across the frame fairly sporadically. How can I do this effect and control it’s movement in the frame? Do I need a special plug in? I’m using Premier Pro and don’t have After Effects.

  Create a title with a white oval to cover the face. Adjust the scale and position of the title to cover the face over time using keyframes.

  When it all looks good, add a black background to the title. Behind the oval. Then blur the heck out of the title to create smooth transitions at the edges of the oval.

  Put the title with all the keyframes into a new sequence. Nest that sequence as a track matte.

  The original footage goes on track one, a copy of the original footage, well pixelated, goes on track two, and the track matte is on track three. Apply the track matte effect to track two’s clip.
