How to stop the capture from a VHS
I started a capture in PRRO 2 from a VHS cassette and thought that it would stop the capture when the tape got to the end but it didn’t. It took up the whole 230GB HDD and crashed PPRO when I tried to close the project.
There is no timecode on the tape so how can I tell PRRO to stop recording when the tape gets to the end, so that I don’t have to sit here and watch over it?

Even the Firewire VHS recorders I’ve captured from weren’t
controllable via PPro. Why do you have to sit there whilst
it’s capturing? Stick an alarm clock next to the computer.Darren.

I just don’t know how long the recording is. It might be an hour, 2 3 or 4… even if I fast foward to the end, the VCR is old and doesn’t show me how long the tape is.

You need to use something like Scenalyzer to capture with, you can use its options to stop after a given ammount of time without video, or use a stop timer setable under the capture menu, there is also a simple start/stop timer to capture from other inputs like digitized TV

If Blast’s suggested software doesn’t work, spend
some money on the way we solve this on our studio.
Buy another VHS recorder and a timecode generator.
Whilst duplicating the cassette the timecode box
will insert a TCR signal which can then be batched
captured in PPro like anything else.
