    Hi,

I’ve just done a test of wmv9 encoding on both CS2 and CS3 (after getting odd results). I have been careful to create identical presets (desktop custom D1 PAL widescreen Progressive), use idenitcal source (uncompressed image sequence) and identical settings in the two media encoders (CS2 and CS3). The CS3 results are SIGNIFICANTLY worse than CS2 – it looks like CS3 is stripping out every other line before encoding or something – I can’t see where I might have gone wrong. What are your experiences and what might I be doing wrong?

[David Mack] “it looks like CS3 is stripping out every other line”

It appears that “Deinterlace” is turned on in CS3’s Encoder Output module by default and not in 2.0. Try turning it off.

    Hi Mike,

Where do you turn that off? I’ve looked in the Encoder – do you mean “Allow Interlace Processing”? I’ve tried ticking that and unticking it and it doesn’t seem to help?

    Mike,

YOU ARE A STAR! Thanks so much for that. I’ve found the tab you wrote about and that is it! It now encodes fine! Frustratingly, Adobe Tech support didn’t pick up on it despite me saying that it appeared like it had been deinterlaced! I was tearing my hair out so thanks for that, I really appreciate it.
