preview on External monitor?
while editng, I have the firewire running to my editing deck, but do not see the playback on the Monitor screen..I can only see it in the samll PP2 window..
whaT COULD BE WORNG
The deck is the panasonic AG-dv2000
I know this used to work…now could have changed

Have you checked the Playback Settings in the Project-> General window to see if you still have export to DV device selected and it still sees the device.

i’m sorry..how would I know if it still “sees” the device?
I do have it set to export..but Im trying to see it while I edit…not exporting
Am I not making myslef clear?

You should haveDV 29.97 selected in both external device boxes in the playback settings, If you are sending video out of a computer for whatever purpose its called exporting

Open My Computer and see if you deck is listed under “Scanner and Cameras”
If its there, Open Ppro, when your project is loaded hit F5 which brings up the Capture window, Select the Settings tab, In the Device Control box at the bottom DV/HDV Device Control should be in the Device: Window, then select Options, if the settings are correct you should see online next to the Check status box. -
HEY, ive just bought premier pro 1.5. imported footage from dvd .avi formart. its on the timeline now and rendered but i cant see anything on the monitor window. only the left preview window is showing picture. what could be wrong

avi is a generic term that covers a multitude of formats. DVD video is Mpeg2 which v1.5 has problems with unless you purchase a codec to use with Ppro. see https://www.mainconcept.com

Odd..it sees it and works form time to time….seems I need to reboot or shut off the deck to get it to rest
