Help building PC to run Premiere Pro using Dell Gov site
Posted by Thegrotonchannel on August 16, 2007 at 3:25 pmHello, we are building a new computer to run Adobe Premiere Pro and will most likely be going through Dell’s government site. Can you suggest the best options given these limitations?

August 19, 2007 at 1:30 pmHere’s a caveat about Dell, the basic system is usually somewhat reasonable like a Precision 390 workstation, with a fast processor like a E6400, video card and basic memory and harddrive, from then on their pricing is horrible, usually twice current market pricing, memory is dirt cheap on the open market, same with large harddrives.

August 19, 2007 at 11:51 pmThe problem is how top end of a system you want, also if you have a computer person where you could order extra parts on a workorder to finish the system, also are you going to be doing HDV? what is going to be your final product? DVD? you could put together a Precision 390 workstation for about $3400, with 3 harddrives, 4gig of ram, Core2 duo E6600, and a pair of 19″ monitors

August 20, 2007 at 5:06 pmDon’t have a computer person. There is value for us to not have to do more shopping/installing. No HDTV in foreseeable future. Will probably send analog signal (via DV deck) to set top DVD recorder for most final products. Thanks for your help!
