PPro CS3 Mac: “Can’t activate recorder. Try resetting camera.”
Never got this error message in the Premiere Pro prerelease, never got it in 3.0, but now in 3.0.1 when I try to capture DV from my Panasonic DVX-100 I can’t capture anything because PPro “Can’t activate recorder. Try resetting camera.” Tried resetting, unplugging third-party soundcard, both 24p and 29.97 modes, with and without external storage attached, a new firewire cable… all to no avail.
Googling produced some hits on folks having this problem in PPro 2.0 in Windows (requiring registry hacking), but nothing on what to do if you get this error message on the new (buggy) Mac version.
All I’m trying to do is capture DV. Shouldn’t really be that complicated. Anyone else had this problem on a Mac?

Yeah – I’ve got the same problem but no solution – let me know if you find one – even more frustrating because it’s taken nearly two weeks just to be able to install CS3 – and now I can’t capture.

Try checking that your camera is in right mode – if you’re trying to capture into a DV project – make sure that your camera is set to DV and not HDV in your playback mode.

I have the same issue. I am running Premiere Pro Version 3.2.0(374). I was able to capture from my JVC GYHD200 camera before the update. It was always a little buggy but at least it worked. I have tried unpluging the fire wire, restarting PPro, Reopening the capture window, restarting the camera, and many combinations. Adobe has really screwed me. Any help please reply, Thanks
