  Error: unsupported compression in file?

  Hi, keep getting the above error with message details “unsupported compression in file” when trying to import .avi file.

  File is relatively small (25Mb) but does come from one of the Oregon Scientific headcams – could this be an issue, and if so any suggestions?

  Yes, it could be an issue. Use a program like GSpot to figure out what codec was used to encode the video. The term “AVI” is very generic and can be created with many codecs.

  Hi Steven,
  Gspot has the video codec as MJPEG.

  ps. I am running PProCS3 on a Mac.

  Any ideas where to go from here?

  Well, if you were on a PC I would just tell you to pay $20 for the Motion JPEG codec and be done with it. But my research failed to find a Mac version.

  My guess is that you should open the file in Quicktime Pro and export it Quicktime DV.
