Capture: “Scene Detect” not allowed: “No Date\Time”???
Sometimes when I want to capture from tape, PPRO will not allow me to use “scene detection”, telling me that “Date and Time were not captured to tape” so it can’t use scene detect.
I’m not the camera man here, just the editor, and when asking the camera guys, they have no idea what I’m talking about. They tell me that they don’t change any Time\Date settings on the cameras and that it’s always the same.
So why sometimes I’m ABLE to use scene detect and sometimes not?? Is this “missing” Date\Time a Camera issue or PPRO setting issue?
p.s. I don’t need date and times… just the cuts.

Have you tried playing the tape back on a cam to see it the code is on the tape?

When I play back for capturing, I see a timecode and other stuff in the viewer. Like I said, I don’t understand in the camera settings, all I do with the camera is connect it to the computer for capturing. The camera people told me that they don’t change settings, and I wrote that SOME (most) videos WILL successfully use scene detect with no problem. Same Tapes… Same Camera… that’s why it’s strange…

A timecode or a time/date code? both can be displayed on the cam, also the time/date code(data code) can be turned off on some cams when recording.

Ok, figured it out. I needed the time\date STAMP to be on RECORD mode in the cameras internal setup menu.
