I do a lot of PAL to NTSC conversions (with hardware and software).
As long as I had XP SP1 everything was fine. After installing XP SP2,
any movements on the converted NTSC video are not smooth and sometime even jerky. The original PAL version is excellent.
Although converting to NTSC means adding in between frames, it used to be OK, but not anymore.
I’ll be thankful for any idea.

What software are you using to convert to NTSC?

If you mean Premiere, I would be surprised if you ever had a descent result, even with SP1.

For a good software conversion, you’ll have to look at Canopus, and even then, it isn’t an exact science; motion isn’t your best friend…

As for SP1 VS SP2, from what I recall, most changes only affected network connection and security, but performance did take a hit.

BTW, are we talking DVD playback or preview window?

    Cheers,

    Vince

    Hello Vince,
Editing is done in PP1.5 and than export to DV tape.
The tape transferred by hardware (don’t remember the manufacture) to NTSC DVD. I also tried Canopus’ Procoder 2 but the results are the same. It has definitely worse than before.
    PAL DVD is OK.
    Thanks
