  Open GL Video Cards for AE Production

  I have an NVIDIA GeForce4 MX Series video card. It only gets one check on this chart https://www.adobe.com/products/aftereffects/opengl.html from Adobe.

  Looks like I’m in the club, but will I get any benefits from this card?

  On the same issue… Should I invest in a card that gets more checks from Adobe? Looks like about $260 is the price for the cheapest Geforce 7800 that I’ve seen. I would have to replace the power supply on my box as well (wants 450 watt supply)… ouch. What is the best compromise as to getting power from the OpenGL and not having to rebuild my computer?

  I have AE and the production studion on order from adobe, so I haven’t seen its performance yet on my machine. Will Premiere get a boost from the the video card as well?

  PC? My MX card is making nasty fan noises, so I used that opportunity this weekend to order one of these GeForce 6600 cards for cheap ($141):

  My MX card doesn’t have a fan. (PC). Did you try the card with AE 7? What accelerations did it offer? Thanx.
