This is my first post on this great site. Thanks to all who make it so helpful.

I have a 7 minute mpeg 2 clip that I captured from VHS using Hauppauge’s WinTV USB2 PVR. That plays OK in Windows Media Player except the audio needs improvement.

    1) Started PP2 project as:
    DVD NTSC, 29.97, 720×480, D1/DV NTSC (0.9)

    2) Imported the mpeg 2 clip
    3) Right clicked on audio clip, selected

Chances are that Premiere Pro doesn’t support the codec used to capture the footage. You should be using DV AVI Type 2.

If you render the timeline, then export to a DV AVI, you might be able to put that AVI on a new sequence and export that to MPEG2. But why you would use the generic is a mystery. Other than putting it on a DVD with MPEG2-DVD, I can’t think of a reason to use MPEG2.
