How to capture stills (frame capture) from video?
I need step-by-step instructions for capturing still images from video (VHS). I’ll be saving the captured images to disc and then having a photo lab print them at 8″X 10″ size. I’ve already got the video captured and on the time line, but don’t know where to start with this.
A second issue is that the above VHS content has time code on every frame, so I need instruction on how to remove the time code (In Photoshop or?), so the finished prints will look nice for the customer.

I doubt that an 8×10 print of a capture from VHS will ever look any good, I tried DV a while back, it was to put the picture of a speaker on the back of a DVD box, it looked like hell and was only 2 inches tall !
The only real way is the use the save frame export option in Premiere. In Photoshop, you could try using the clone tool to remove the timecode. Then levels, grain remover, and a very large drink 20 minutes prior for the client 😉

Like Vincent mentions enlarging frame captures from vhs video doesn’t give much information to rezize above snapshot size, you can do a web search for image resing software or photoshop plug-ins like Genuine Fractals Print Pro, Nik Sharpener Pro, but be aware there is alot of interpolation which goes on.
