I am running PP2 on a 3.2Ghz P4, WinXP SP2 1GB RAM. When capturing via firewire from either my XL1s camera or JVC VS30 deck I get no audio, or video displayed in the capture window. I’ve also been running Liquid Edition 6 on this machine for a couple of years which is fine. PP2 is a recent install this year so i’m fairly new to it and may be missing something obvious. Capturing with a srtandard firewire card, graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700LE. After capturing media is available so its just a monitoring while capture problem.

    Keith,

Please refer to the capturing podcasts over here:
    https://cowcast.creativecow.net/premiere_pro/index.html

The podcast goes over a particular setting that may be causing this problem and provides a fix. Please let us know if that works.

    Best,
    Aanarav

Sorry Aanarav, I’ve been through both Podcasts on the capture process and see no mention of this particular problem. I have tried firing up the deck before starting PP2 and that does not help either.

[Keith Mitchell] “graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700LE”
You may have a overlay problem, have you updated the drivers for the card?

Have you checked the Audio settings in Preferences in the EDIT Menu?

That did it. Found a newer driver on Version Tracker that solved the problem. Thanks.

I need to change the graphics card anyway as I am now using a Samsung SyncMaster 244T monitor and need an AGP card that supports 1200×1920. Any suggestions? Looking at a Saphire Radeon X1600 Pro but there doesn’t seem to be much choice for AGP now.

    Thanks

There aren’t very many choices for AGP, Radeons aren’t bad, there are also some Nvidia 6800 & 7800 AGP cards available also.
