  Dropped Frames

  Hi! I’m new to this board and I am hoping someone can help. I’m in the process of converting all my old VHS onto DVD and I am transfering the video/audio to a Sony DV cam. For some reason, some video tapes are dropping frames during the transfer, and others are not. Just wondering if anyone has come across this and knows a resolution? I’m using RCA cables (no S-Video, the VCR does not have one) to connect the VCR to the DV cam. It does not seem to happen at the same point, or at least it seems like it occurs at different points, and varies each time I start the recording process over again. Any help would be great. Thanks so much!

  VHS can have some jitter in playback, you should use a TBC(time base corrector) of some sort, usually a Sima Video Enhancer will suffice for most to stabilize the video in most cases
