I copied the audio track one and placed on audio track two. I made the first track fill left and I made the second track fill right. After making the correct editing choices for output, how do convert both edited sound tracks to one mono track for output?

Mono to tape? DV tape? All the camcorders and decks I have seen record audio in stereo.
Mono is fine for streaming web video as it saves bitrate, but most of the world listens to stereo TV and small TVs will play both tracks though one tiny speaker.
