  • Where does APP save its DVD files before burning??

Posted by Scaramanga on October 22, 2006 at 12:18 pm

Im using premiere pro 7.0 (1.0?) and have just exported to DVD but after about 8hrs it got to the burning stage and the project was too large to fit on to a normal 4.7gb disc. Ive tried using DVD+R DL and they are detected as imcompatible.

Is there a place where the VIDEO_TS files are saved so i can use a program like DVDshrink to compress what i have encoded already?? I really want to avoid going through the whole process again to come up with the smae results

Not sure if the temp files were kept in P7 after the program was closed…but they I think were in something like My Documents/Premiere (Been a while so I can’t confirm it).

You could look in your preferences, there should be a setting for the DVD scratch disk, or how about doing a search for “VIDEO_TS” in xp.

Suggest using the “Folder” option in the Burn DVD dialog and choosing the location for the VIDEO_TS folder, then use your burning app to do the burning.

Premiere saves it in your “project_folder>encoded files” folder. Whether you encode using the Export to DVD or Burn to DVD using the DVD Layout Menu, Premiere keeps the encoded files there. However, if you want to reuse the encoded files, you have to copy the files from that folder before you close the Export to DVD menu or the DVD Layout Menu as Premiere automatically deletes it.
