  keying & motion

  i am trying to superimpose a muzzle flash over a firing gun. I have stock footage of the muzzle flash that i want to use and have used a screen key to remove the black background on it. this all works fine.

  then i reposition the muzzle flash using the motion effects so that it lines up correctly with the gun and all of a sudden its as though the keyin has not been aplied. i have the black background present again. if i click the little f thing to hide the motion effect the keying is ‘active’ again but of course the muzzle flash is again in its original position on the screen?!?! please help!

  Try it with a Luma key and see if it works better for you.

  yup works fine! thanks. sorry to be so naive but why is that? i also have some stock footage with a white background, i was using a multiply key but much to the same affect as before is there a different key that i should be using?

  Perhaps a Chroma Key to key out the white.

  Why didn’t the other key work? I don’t know. I think it may just be a bug.
