Multiple Deck Control via Firewire
I need to export to two decks simultaneously from the timeline using Firewire / Firewire splitter but I can’t control both decks at the same time. Please can you help.
System info:
Windows XP
Dual 3.2 GHz Xeon Processors
2.00 GB RAM -

Firewire control in premiere is for one device only, you can feed the video to more than one device but you will have to start and stop them manually

Ok. Is there any splitter that you would recommend that will send the same signal to two Sony DSR-11 decks? The one I’m trying to use at the moment is a Belkin Firewire 6 port Hub, but it doesn’t replicate the signal to both decks.

Are you trying to export to tape? if so it wouldn’t work, the device control is going try to select one deck, try playing back the timeline to external DV device like you are going to preview it then it should appear on all the ports on the hub, what I used to do is put about 60 frames of black for a pre-roll and then start the deck and cam, I used the remote as they were both sony and the remote would start them both at the same time.

I have tried this, but it appears that the hub is the problem because this only works if one of the decks is off. It seems that the hub choses one deck in prefenrence to the other, and so the both are not given the same output, just one is.
Any ideas?

I am not so sure a firewire hub would work. Try the following:
a) Download a trial version of ScLive
b) Open up 2 instances of ScLive
c) Try exporting to 2 decksDoes that work? I know that ScLive can capture from more than one source at a time, so this should work.
