  HD Camera and System Recommendations Required

  I am a PPro user who currently uses a Canon XL-1 to provide me with source footage. I’ve been told by my employer that I should investigate the requirements of an upgrade to HD. Thus, I’m looking for an ‘affordable’ HD camera solution along with recommendations on a PC system robust enough to handle the exigencies of the HD world.

  In short, what camera should I buy? What should I look for in a system?? Please advise.

  You would probably be happiest with the Canon HDV camera, and I would go with the Conroe Extreme Edition chip with 4GB of fast RAM. Get a fast system drive and use a RAID0 for your video. A third drive for a scratch disk is a handy idea.
