  What is the best 3rd party app for digitizing AVIs for Premiere?

  I tried Windows Movie Maker, but Premiere didn’t like the files it created.

  The answer varies, depending on the source of your footage. If you are digitizing from a DV deck, then ScLive. If you are digitizing from another source, then it may vary. Please be specific.

  In that case you are capturing DV (not digitising it).

  I use Scenalyser occasionally but mainly the PremPro Capture function and never have a problem with it.

  I use SceneAlyzerLive to capture from a Sony PDX-10 because Premiere 1.5 won’t recognize both audio channels (apparently something to do with Sony’s implementation of the DV standard – it’s outputing two mono channels and Premiere wants to see a stereo channel). However, Premiere doesn’t have any problem with the SceneAlyzer avi files for me. Maybe a setting?
  Under Options, Capture, check to see that youre set for Type2 DV-avi file.
