When I’m watching my comp using RAM preview, is there a way for me to stop it’s playback and have the play line indictaor stay parked where it was when I hit the space key? It always defaults back to where I began the RAM preview.

    Try this:
Create your RAM preview. As you said it the time line cursor will return to where it was when you started.
Then set your time line cursor to the beginning of the area you just previewed and hit the space bar the section will start playing, hit the space bar again to stop it where you want and it should stay put.

You don’t need to do the RAM preview for this to work but if you don’t the preview will chug slowly depending on the complexity of your comp.

Did you check “from current time” on the time controls palette?

    Kevin,

That worked great… I click RAM Preview, wait till it loads what I want to watch, then click the RAM Preview button again to watch it real time… ‘then’ if I hit the space bar it stops right where I’m at…

My mistake was I was hitting the space bar, rather than clicking the RAM Preview button the second time. This would start the real-time playback, but when I then stopped, it would kick me back to the first frame of the selected preview area.

    Thanks,
    Todd
