    im hooking a sony mini-dv, to my tower, using a seagate external hard drive. when i try and capture, it plays back a few seconds then says “time code break”. please help, thank you.

    This error usually is on of the few error messages that is usually straight forward. Your tape probably does have broken timecode. Typically caused by rewinding the tape and previewing what was shot…but running past the end of the last recorded shot into tape with no timecode. You will need to mannually forward the tape past the blank area using the camera controls.

    I tried forwarding the tape, but there is no blank timecode, video is recorded all the way to the end. I manually fast forward it, and went back to the begining, but it still wont capture because of the timecode. Any suggestions will be appreciated. thanks, Brook
