Maybe not the best forum for this but…well, here I am with my nice 500 bucks 25″ widescreen LCD screen (Viewsonic).

Bought it based on great reviews. Yet, I can’t seem to get a proper black level using color bars. (Getting that shiny black color)I have tried adobe gamma without success either.

This is pretty much unacceptable as far as editing goes for me.

Am I missing missing something or am I bound to the ol’ CRT ?

BTW, I am doing a lot of stuff to be viewed on plasmas, which is why the NTSC monitor I have could do alone for preview.

    Thanks,

    Vince

I believe you may have chosen perhaps the worst LCD out there. I too purchased a Viewsonic LCD about a year ago and was amazed how awful it was, especially in terms of blacks, etc. I returned it and demanded by money back from the vendor and got it. In my view, CRTs are still the only way to go for pro-level color correction, etc.

Is this for external video or computer video?

Most of what I do is for NTSC viewing, on plasma screens.

Thanks Bill, I kind of figured I had tried pretty much everything, well I can still use it for work area.

    Thanks guys,

    Vince
