there was a tutorial here on deinterlacing in after effects. where you would keep the odd or even fields only, then add a bit of blur to fill in the other fields…. somehow I cannot find that, can someone help?

Well, I did a comparison on different methods of deinterlacing a long time ago. You should be able to find it by clicking on my mugshot in the forum and then scrolling down to the articles.

But: why would you want to drop a field entirely and add blur on top of that? You’ll end up with less than half of your resolution… Unless that’s what you’re trying to achieve.

Best to stick with AE’s own de-interlacing (separate fields and render without fields), or get ReelSmart FieldsKit.

Magic Bullet does a marginally better job at it, but costs a lot more than FieldsKit. Obviously it also does a lot more.
