Can I get the time or timecode to display over my video with Premiere?
I have to do a time lapse corporate shoot this weekend (DVCAM), and the customer wants to see the timecode in the lower corner. I will be recording locked down for 1 1/2 hours in free-run timecode mode, and will speed up the footage. Is there a way for Premiere Pro to display the camera’s original timecode over the video? If so, could I use the same technique to see the date and time displayed? I’m talking about after the fact – I know I can record with the date and time displayed while recording. There is all sorts of data info on the tape, but can I see it displayed? I’m thinking the only way to display it would be to copy the footage analog into the computer with the “display” button engaged on the playback deck (DSR-30)

The only way to do it in Premiere Pro 1.5 is to get the DVDATE pluggin. It’s only $20 and it does EXACTLY what you’re looking for. I’m not sure if you can do it in Premiere Pro 2.0, and I’m pretty sure you can do it in After Effects, but DVDATE is the only way to do it in Premiere Pro 1.5

In PremierePro2: Effects>Video Effects>Video>Timecode. In Effect Controls change Timecode Source to Media and you get your material timecode superimposed. 30-day tryout is downloadable at https://www.adobe.com/products/tryadobe/main.jsp
