I’ve just started using Premiere Pro 2. Editing of video works great on my system, but I’m having a terrible problem with capturing via Firewire. While capturing or viewing video through a firewire connection the system will just freeze and I’ll have to reboot the computer. My system specs are as follows

    CPU: P4 3.06
    RAM: 512
    Video: ATI Radeon 9600XT 128MB

I’ve tried two different firewire cards and two different types of cameras and went through all of adobes listed trouble shooting material they had on their website. I’m still experiencing this freeze when capturing and its driving me up the walls. Thanks for any help you can give me.

This has happened to me when I had my screen saver kick in. I disable this during capture, together with some of the other programs going on in the background. It has helped.

Unlike 1.5, 2.0 requires that the DV device be turned on and connected prior to starting Premiere…at least on my system.
