I had both AE7 and PP2 running simultaneously. saved an AE7 project, and tried to load it into PP2. I got an error saying that I need to install the Production Studio… am I missing some software? I thought this was simply a function of the new versions playing together?

I need to test drive the integration where editing projects are live between apps. I’ll be buying all the upgrades at some point but I’d like to see this working now before I drop the loot personally.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I haven’t upgraded yet but according to Adobe’s website Adobe Dynamic Link is only available in the Production Studio package.

That is correct. You can own all the products you want, but until you purchase the Production Studio, you will not have Dynamic Link.

Ahhh, that makes sense, I guess. I downloaded the trials for nothing then, I specifically wanted to test drive the integration. It wasn’t too long ago that I got VERY excited about Adobe’s apps getting integrated to find that is wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be (loading AE6.5 projects into Prem1.5). It seems to work great in Adobe’s intro flash videos but I was hoping to see for myself….

    Thanks for the help guys.

If anybody has this working right now, I’d love to hear comments about how well AE, Premiere, and Photoshop play together. thanks!

    Not Bad.

Basically an AE project can be placed in a Premiere sequence and treated as a clip. Anything you change in AE is instantly updated in Premiere.

The shortcomings are that you still have to copy and paste clips from Premiere to use in AE and the render speeds, like all Premiere effects are a bit slow (it’s quicker to render in AE and import the clip).

However if your film despecking, masking, text animating etc it is a great step forward. Basically it bring AE features into Premiere. So Premiere now has:

    Tracking
    Beizer masks
    Timewarp
    Text animation
    Is resolution independant
    etc.
