  • Capture from GL1 yields clips that are not 720w

Posted by Ruby Gold on January 23, 2006 at 11:30 pm

I shot some footage with a GL1 and when I captured it into PPro 1.5, there are two little strips of black running along either side of the image–in other words it doesn’t seem to be 720 pixels wide. I haven’t had this problem with my GL2, so I don’t think it’s an errant PPro setting, but are there any settings that might impact this?

    Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Capturing via firewire makes no changes to the video, but choosing a Premiere widescreen project preset will leave black bars on both sides of 4:3 video.

Problem is–I didn’t choose a widescreen preset. I chose the standard 4:3, 720 x 480 preset. That’s why this problem is so maddening–I can’t figure out the cause. Any other thoughts greatly appreciated.

    thanks-

Do the black bars appear on your external monitor? If not, you may have Premiere’s monitor window display setting to something other than “Fit”.

The black bars appear in both QT and Real Player viewers when looking at the AVI. They also appear in the finished DVD using those clips.
