Newbie Question: Resizing Clips in Premiere
Hi guys,
I’d like to find out if there’s any way to resize the video clips on the reference monitor by manually keying in the values? Right now, the dimensions of all my clips are approximately about 720 x 576 px. I want to resize them to 640 x 480 px. I’ve tried rendering them directly at that dimension but that resulted in drastic quality loss. I don’t want to resize the clips by clicking and dragging the corners of each clips as I have quite a lot of clips in that project and doing that will means wasting a lot of time. So, the best way I could think of is to key in the values manually. How can that be achieved in Premiere? Thanks in advance. -

The motion effect has a Scale Parameter. The problem is that 720X576 uses non-square pixels and 640X480 uses square pixels. So the 480 is the number you want to concentrate on. Take the video to 83% of scale and you will be very, very close.
Once you get what you want, you can copy the first one, and then paste attributes to all of the others on the sequence at one time.

Thanks for your reply. Just one more question. Where do I find the motion effect? Is it under video effects or video transition? Thanks again.(PS: Btw, I am using Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5)

Motion is one of the “fixed” effects. Just click on the clip in the sequence, then look in the “Effect Controls Window”. It will be there along with Opacity, and if you have audio on the clip, Volume.
