Put a white matte on the topmost track above the others. Just fade it in and out. Then make a preset out of it so you can apply the same fades to any new matte you create in any project.

    Steve,

Can you build this effect so that it can live next to your dip to black effect and then have it just drag to clip(s) just like the dip to black effect ? thank you for your time

Unfortunately no. You would have to create a new matte in every project. It is not a real transition.

I happen to have a few things like that. So I keep them all in a project that I just import into every project I create.

There is a (free) plug in called Flash Effects ( aex) that you can build this in easily and save it as a preset.

It is free. I am not at my machine so can not name the link for you but a search on these sites ( incl.Adobe PremPro Forum) may discover it. Or a google search.

Another method is to do it as a CC effect. Blow the luma out with key frames. You may even be able save this as a preset.
