I was wondering how to best create a liquid organic matte. I have seen it used extensively, like the “Run’s House” title sequence done by Charlie Compnay at Charlie Company’s Website. I am talking about the background and how in this case it changes shades/brightness with that liquid, organic matte. I figure you could shoot ink into water, but i don’t know if you would get the same effect…It’s just something I would like to mess with, maybe even fractal noise would work. Thanks for ideas.

CC Mr Mercury should do the trick rather well. You’ll first need to finetune the parameters to create a transition effect. Then render out just the matte (Alpha only) or precomp it and use Shift Channels.
