  • Want to capture high quality while conserving space…

    Hello,

I am new to Premiere. After capturing an hour’s worth of footage, around 20 gigs were used up. Is there a way I can capture video, high quality, without using so much space?

    Any help is greatly appreciated,

    Taf

Premiere Pro does not like to edit compressed formats and hence you will have to use “large” files. However, that 20gigs does not sound right for an hours video. 1hour ~ 13gb. What are your capture settings?

Did you capture exactly an hour? or capture more? are you looking at the size of the file or space missing from the HD?

Thanks for the reply – my capture settings are:

    DV/IEEE1394 Capture
    Compressor: Microsoft DV (NTSC)
    Frame Size: 720 x 480
    Frame Rare: 29.97 fps
    Depth: Millions
    Quality: 100%

We need good looking video going in – but is there any way to get great quality while saving space?
