  • Speculation about PP 2.0’s clip and versioning organization

While waiting for PP 2.0, it’s impossible to know exactly what will be in store for us; however, if we look at what Adobe has done to its flagship photoshop with the CS and CS2 release, there may be some hints related to organizing clips and versions as well as other asset management functionality.

This hint is the “Bridge”. Bridge is new in photoshop. It takes the browsing function out of photoshop and makes it, its own application. My guess is that this technology is being adapted for PP 2.0. What will this mean in functionality?
Tracking versions and different pieces of a project should become easier. The question is– Will Bridge be more of a digital asset manangement tool for all an enterprise’s digital assets? We will have to wait and see.

Bridge software is new and immature, PP2.0 version of it may only be a hint of where it could go a year or two from now.

Just to reiterate, this is my speculation only. I’ve been wrong many times before when I’ve played this game.

If you have the Creative Suite, you will notice that all images can be opened from within the Bridge itself. I am hoping that there will be a ‘video version’ of the suite. But, at this time everyone is just guessing.

[Aanarav Sareen] “If you have the Creative Suite, you will notice that all images can be opened from within the Bridge itself.”

It would be interesting if you digitized stuff via the bridge not the job. This could be a very powerful. Unfortunately, I think it will be hard for Adobe to get away from the job approach since most times it is the definition of the work.

The best that we can hope for would be some kind of simultaneous logging.
