  • Huge File increase converting WMV to Mpeg4 in Premiere Pro

I have been trying to prep files for DVD in Encore and the problem is that these WMV files are about 120-175 mb in size and the resolution is 320 X 240 now when I import the file into the timeline the file size increases to 1 to 3 gigs with a resolution of 720 x 486 what gives ? Is this correct should I be taking another route because the render time is about 40 min to and hour which is the total length of the clip anyway. Any advice on a different solution would be greatly appreciated.

How are you converting to Mpeg 4 in Premiere??? There are some legacy export settings you should avoid “Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V1 and V2”.
Use Windows Media Video 9 from the Adobe Media Encoder. 720 x 480 is 4 times the resolution as 320 x 240 so the files will be bigger, but I am afraid poor. Upsizing video or stills is pretty much a lost cause as the results will be noticably pixelated.
