12-bit audio all four channels…help
Hello, I am having a problem.
I am trying to capture four channels of audio and the video from a mini dv tape.
I am only getting Channels 1+2, these are the voice over part of the audio. And 3+4 are music channels, I do not know who or where this tape was made I was just told that these are the channels where each are at.
The problems is I am only getting the two channels 1+2……..am I missing something? I can hear all four from the camera (Canon zr70) but not when it gets to premiere (1.5).

Is this one of those cameras where there is a switch to choose which channels are coming out via FW?
You would have to do another capture pass for the other two channels and re-sync it.

How exactly do I do another capture pass for the other two channels. I can’t get those other two channels to show up anywhere.
Any thoughts?

As Tim mentions, the output channels are usually selectable on the camera.
Capture the video and tracks 1 + 2 first and then rewind the tape and capture just the audio tracks 3 + 4. The timecode will match the first capture so you’ll be able to line them up ‘sync’ them correctly.
If you are using a VTR deck to capture the material you’ll also need to change the output tracks (usually a menu or switch option).
The Firewire standard allows for just two audio tracks at a time.
