Lately I have been having this problem. It was just annoying at first but is getting more serious as it seems to be happening more and more often. When I try to capture, it begin to go fine for a completley random amount of time and then just stop as if I hit escape. At first I thought it was related to disk space so I emptied a ton of stuff off my hard drives, but it keeps happening. And I already ruled out the possibility that it was related to my external drive because it is happening on interal drives as well. It could be an issue related to the computer itself (I have also been having a lot of crashes lately) but I’m just wondering if anyone else has ever had or heard of this problem.

A bad firewire cable can cause this, I have pitched several. Also turn off all external firewire devices during capture.

What if I’m capturing with an RCA cable into a canopus video converter card? Could that have something to do with it?

With a bad s/video cable your captured video would just be black, not cause an error…check the firewire from the box to the 1394 card.
