I’m using PPro 1.5 and I’d like to create an effect using two clips where it appears that a woman is “stepping into” one of her paintings. I was going to shoot one clip where the woman is walking away from the camera at the top of a hill so she’ll be basically in silhouette, against the sky. Then I’ll have a clip of the painting. I’m not sure if there’s a way to “cut away” all but the woman’s figure and then use opacity and motion/size of her walking figure to create the illusion? I’m still a novice with effects, so I don’t know how to “cut away” the background around the figure while it’s in motion. Any suggestions on the best way to achieve this illusion would be most appreciated. I have After Effects 5.5, and haven’t tried anything this ambitious before–so if it’s better done there, please let me know.

    Thanks so much-

This would be pretty difficult to do inside of PPRO, but would be easier in AE. If you want to do this in AE, let me know and I can create a simple tutorial for you.

That is an incredibly generous offer, and I would love it. As I said, I have AE 5.5 and have only done pretty basic stuff in it so far, but a tutorial on this wd be fantastic. Thanks again-
