  • How to stop pluraleyes re-ordering shots in a timeline?

Posted by Jay Moss on December 17, 2017 at 11:59 am

    Hi,

I’m syncing material for a short film and have divided the footage (shot with scratch audio) into sequences of shoot days. I’ve laid out the material in shoot order and with relevant external audio (also in shoot order) laid out below. I sync the sequence in Pluraleyes, which seems to do a good enough job, although the sequence it returns has re-ordered the shots and I have no idea why..?

I’d like to make selects from the sync timelines in the correct order (at least within a scene) but there seems to be no way of telling Pluraleyes to keep the order I set (and no logical reason I can think of why it would change it anyway!)

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    – I thought about creating merged clips from the sync files and then a new (correctly ordered) sequence from those, but as later we will need to go to on-line, outside of Adobe apps, I’ve been resisting going down that road…

It’s really infuriating that they removed a feature that we could use to force the oftentimes flawed synchronization process when it re-orders things incorrectly. It was part of their dumbing down of the application, removing customizable features for the lowest-level users (lowest common denominator).

Is there better software that still contains more advanced features? Maybe Resolve?
