I’ve had this problem sporadically for a few years as I slowly graduated to 4k footage from 1080.

I’m attempting to render a file with about eight 4K files. When it starts to render out, the videos (all of them) flash on and off, flips upside down and even substitutes frames from completely different files.
I’ve disabled Mercury Transmit, reloaded the files, substituted proxies, allocated more memory to After Effects. No change.
I’ve even purged the memory & disk cache.
I have 32 gb of ram on my desktop, 28.9 of which I’ve made available inside After Effects
I can’t even use After Effects with multiple 4K files anymore.
    What is going on here?

first of all…render to a png sequence first if you have not already…2nd..make sure you have a background layer otherwise i have noticed it likes to take cached files and distribute them randomly on alpha information..thats all i got…Oh well there is one more thing and that is making sure the original start of your camera layer is at the beginning of the comp…this is surprisingly important with element 3d…maybe it translates over
