  Recreating mathematical forms from 1969

  Hello,

  Anyone have any tips on how I could recreate similar visuals to this in after effects?

  Mostly looking to replicate the particles moving in formation kind of thing, as I’ll be ref-ilming the finished product through old VHS cameras to achieve the degradation and glow – just looking to initially create that kind of movement. Particularly the stuff from 4:34 onwards.

  Also any tips of recreating the kind of line based visuals in the first minute of this video – https://archive.org/details/matrix_201703

  (I’d say I’m an intermediate after effects user, I use it a lot for simple graphics and touch ups on films.)

  Any and all tips would be much appreciated!

  When I saw this effect, I immediately thought it’s probably been made in Particular – you can have a ring emitter and I bet this is quite simple.

  But if you don’t have Trapcode Particular, then you can get close with Radio Waves, CC Ball Action and Turbulent Displace. It’s not exactly the same, but I only spent 2 minutes on it:
