  VR180 camera rig that works with Trapcode

  I’m needing a VR180 (stereo) camera rig in After Effects that works with Trapcode effects. The regular stereo cameras in After Effects don’t work with Trapcode effects, and the new Adobe VR Environment thing seems to only be 360 mono.

  Not as easy as just putting two cameras side-by-side as the stock cameras don’t seem to produce the correct rectilinear 180 format and you need controls for convergence. Any help would be appreciated.

  So I’ve been experimenting with a “fake” stereo rig by rendering each eye separately and combining in a new comp. Here are the VR180 results on YouTube. You heed a headset for best results. I’m using an Oculus Rift S.

  These are done with Particular. The AE camera is not a real rectilinear and does create some distortion at the very top and bottom (look up and look down).

  I just tried those link and they’re not working for me. For what it’s worth, I think you’re on the right track, if you know you need stereo-180.

  AE’s system was previously SkyBox, which AE bought, if you’ve played with that, you’ll see it actually creates comps with separate cameras which it then stitches together. What you doing is effectively the same thing but for 180. Nice one.

  I’ve tried the Skybox thing, but it leaves lines in the stitching with Trapcode stuff. I guess flares and glows have issues at the camera edge and that creates the problems. I don’t know if others have that same issue.
