  Lightsaber covered by Hand

  Hi,
  I recorded a lightsaber fight, and now i want to do the effects. By the way, im working with the plugin “saber” by video copilot… So i tracked the top and the bottom of my fake lightsaber and connected the null objects with the start and the end of the effect. Till now everything is fine. And of course the lightsaber is covered by a hand or the other saber during the fight. Because the effect goes over the hand, I rotobrushed the hand, so I can insert the effect layer between the background and the mask. But now, the mask isnt illuminated by the saber, because shes a layer above. How can I fix this? Can I somehow split the core from the glow, so I can insert the mask between the glow and the core, or can i connect the mask with the background so both of them is illuminated by the saber?
  I hope you understand my problem and you can help me.

  Duplicate your plate, place it above the Saber effect layer for however many frames the hand covers the blade, and mask off the hand.
