  • Trying to move multiple precomps along single animated path/line

    Hello all,

I have a composition that is an animation that resolves to a company logo and – among other things – features a line of dots that follow a path starting from offscreen and move to their final position along a curved path. Every dot is a separate precomp because each dot starts with a different image in it and after the animation resolves, they fade to the logo color. This all happens while the image zooms out, so this comp is oversized and is added to another, final comp.

Attached is a AE comp screenshot with the relevant part of the comp revealed. I overlaid a red line showing the path I need the individual dots to follow.

How do I get each of these precomps to follow a line with proper spacing? I could animate individually, but I’m hoping there’s some sort of way to semi-automate this?

Thanks for any help that is offered.

I think you’ll be better off copying and pasting the basic motion path and adjusting them manually, since the objects are going to end up in different final locations.
