January 18, 2006 at 7:27 pmMaybe a real 3D app was used, or AE with the Zaxwerks Invigorator plugin.

January 18, 2006 at 10:32 pmtry illustrator extrude functions with simple lines. Maybe bring them in to AE – 3d and camera and light – and tweak opacity levels.

Easy to do with Invigorator.
If you have the plug-in then click on my picture to find a tutorial named filmstrip or so.

January 19, 2006 at 2:50 pmand i’m wondering…this ribbons or whatever you call them 🙂 , i know and i use 3d stroke. but i was always wondering how to make it look like i saw it in TV spots.
in full 3d…. i know it uses cameras etc, but how could u do to actually feel like you are following a 3d stroke line with the camera and make it as the stroke is all around you etc. because until now, i saw 2 different ways that people use 3d stroke…. 1 – animating strokes in a 2d scene. something really flat….
i’ve tried to make it more interesting here :
https://www.mindsmack.com/marcelo/portfolio/advertisingvisual/home.htm
in the buttons when u rollover them , you will see a combination that i’ve made.
and 2 – the 3d stroke used as i wonder…full in 3d space goind around , followed by a camera etc etc.any ideas ???
thank you very much!!

January 19, 2006 at 4:07 pmHi,
Most of the 3D Ribbons you see on TV are made using a 3D program. Make a search on “Ribbons”, including the archive to read some interesting threads about this.
Now the one you were after are easily done using Invigorator but you can’t band them unless you use a distortion effect like Bezier Warp…
As to 3D Stroke, there should be a tutorial on the Trapcode site.
Another interesting tutorial on ribbons was recently published. Check the AE tutorial section here at the Cow.
Salut.
Serge
