Moving all “tracks” with a stretched clip or insert
This is one of the most fundamental tasks but I haven’t used this software for quite a while and I can’t remember how I did it. I’m adding a Descriptive Audio Track to a short video and to do so I have to lengthen some clips so the descriptions time out better. When I try to lengthen a video track only that “track” ripples with the change. Other video and audio “tracks” get “left behind.” I.e. how do I keep talking heads, b-roll and audio all in sync when lengthening or adding a clip on one of many “tracks”.
I edited on tape for most of my career, then with *edit for non-linear (which eventually got dropped by Discreet). The move to earlier versions of FC wasn’t so difficult but FCPX was a puzzle. Having been away for a while, I’m afraid my memory and intuition is based on the *edit software rather than FCPX – and it’s freer form is again challenging my brain.
It’s hard to admit I’m struggling with this but I’m hoping someone can shed some light.
