  How can I reduce background noise without ruining the voice?

  Hi everyone! I’m having a small audio problem in VEGAS Pro and was wondering if anyone knows a good fix.

  I have some footage where there’s quite a bit of background noise, like a constant humming sound. I’ve tried lowering the volume, but obviously that also makes the person’s voice quieter.

  Is there a simple way in VEGAS Pro to reduce the background noise while keeping the voice sounding natural? Thanks in advance!

  Hey Raul,

  As a general note for the VEGAS forum, it is hard to suggest directions if posters do not share what Version of VEGAS they are using, and preferably their PC hardware/Windows OS too.

  There is at the moment a mix pre & post-takeover (BorisFX) of VEGAS users here.

  I belong to the group that has decided not to upgrade to the BorisFX version, as I only upgraded in November last year through Magix, and the offer from Boris to “convert” was less than attractive. (Still waiting for an answer from BorisFX on that one, did email in private)

  The Audio effect that you want to look for is “Noise Reduction”.
  There is a chance that your version of VEGAS might be calling it: Track Noise Gate

  Alternatively, you can take it to a third party, like the free version of Davinci, in its Fairlight module should have: FairlightFX Noise Reduction
