Paledusk Performance Captured with URSA Cine Immersive
Creative production company THINGS. brings the band’s performance and the audience’s excitement to life with Apple Immersive Video.
Blackmagic Design today announced that THINGS., a creative production company specializing in video and design for the music industry, captured a live performance by rock band Paledusk using three Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive digital film cameras. The content was showcased at the band’s live concert in April, where a dedicated viewing booth allowed many fans to experience Paledusk’s performance in Apple Immersive Video. The video is now available for free on Amplium, which is available on the App Store for Apple Vision Pro.
“I was blown away when I first saw Apple Immersive Video,” said Satoshi Imamura, CEO of THINGS, and also a producer/director. “With the concept of the frame gone, it felt like a completely new form of expression where viewers can actively choose their perspective. It made me strongly want to create this kind of content myself.”
Imamura had previously experimented with immersive video using a combination of cameras he already owned but was not satisfied with the quality. He then decided to adopt the URSA Cine Immersive and proposed creating immersive live content for the members of Paledusk.
“I had already been working on their creative projects, so I brought the idea to them. When they experienced Apple Vision Pro, they were deeply moved and immediately said they wanted to do it,” Imamura noted.
Formed in 2014, Paledusk gained attention as an indie band and steadily built a fan base both in Japan and internationally before making their major debut in 2025. Three URSA Cine Immersive cameras were used at a live performance held last September at Spotify O-East in Shibuya.
“We also filmed during rehearsals to capture angles that wouldn’t be possible during the actual performance. During rehearsals, we placed cameras in the front row, beside the drums, and directly in front of the vocalist on stage, as well as experimented with side placements. For the live show, we positioned cameras on the balcony and on the side of the stage, while the third camera was mounted on a Ronin and moved around on stage,” Imamura explained.
“What’s great about URSA Cine Immersive is that, despite being designed for immersive capture, it doesn’t require any particularly special operation. In post production, we followed our usual workflow, editing and color grading in DaVinci Resolve Studio. One key difference from conventional music videos is that we avoided rapid cuts and instead allowed shots to play longer. Sudden changes in perspective can be tiring for viewers, so we paid close attention to shot transitions,” he continued.
Imamura added, “For audio, we worked with Taiyo Nakayama from Sound City for the mix. We aimed to maximize the ambiance and recreate the feeling of actually being at a live venue.”
At Paledusk’s live concert in April, a dedicated booth was set up for fans to experience the content. Many attendees were seen using Apple Vision Pros and enjoying the immersive performance.
“It was rewarding to demonstrate the immersive performance to fans at one of Paledusk’s recent shows. Seeing their experience in person underscored the impact Apple Immersive Video can have on viewers worldwide,” Imamura concluded.
