AJA Announces KONA IP25 Integration with Colorfront Software

Collaboration enables uncompressed SMPTE ST 2110 I/O for Transkoder and On-set Dailies

AJA Video Systems today announced KONA IP25 support for Colorfront Transkoder and On-Set Dailies software on Windows. The integration allows production and post professionals using AJA’s ST 2110 I/O card and Colorfront software to take advantage of the advanced throughput that ST 2110 provides to streamline local and remote dailies, transcoding, and streaming.

“As file sizes continue to grow while higher resolution, higher frame rate workflows become standard, more of our customers are moving toward ST 2110 to future proof their facilities. Our latest integration unlocks ST 2110 I/O for Colorfront users,” explained AJA President Nick Rashby. “Colorfront software is a key component in many production and post workflows, and the KONA IP25 integration enhances what professionals are able to achieve.”

“When our clients need an I/O card manufacturer, our go-to recommendation is AJA, so integrating with the KONA IP25 was a natural step in addressing our customers’ need for ST 2110 I/O capabilities,” explained Colorfront Director of Solutions Engineering, Brandon Heaslip. “Collaborating with AJA to ensure compatibility was simple. We updated the SDK and made minor code modifications, and the integration quickly and smoothly became operational.”

Colorfront Transkoder is a high-performance mastering, processing, and delivery solution for post production pipelines with built-in reference quality streaming, while Colorfront On-set Dailies manages camera-original media from ingest through delivery. Paired with AJA’s KONA IP25 PCIe I/O card, which supports bidirectional uncompressed video over IP, these technologies provide a powerful solution for dailies, transcoding, and streaming over an ST 2110 network.

The integration can easily be accessed by installing KONA IP25 and launching Transkoder or On-Set Dailies. The software instantly recognizes the card, enabling Colorfront users to view and access KONA IP25’s settings from RGB to YUV, 4:4:4 12-bit, and beyond.
